Passage Rating Course

The Passage Rating Course is part of NFLC's LangNet Virtual Institute. This distance learning product provides over 20 hours of instruction on how to assign levels to passages according to the U.S. government's Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) skill level descriptions. Assigning a rating to reading and listening passages is a crucial step in effective language training, testing, and assessment.

The Passage Rating Course incorporates the knowledge and best practices of leading government and academic experts. It presents over 100 sample passages to illustrate an approach based on text modes, ILR skill level descriptions, and language features for reading and listening.

The Passage Rating Course includes printable job aids, reference documents, worksheets and expert annotations of passages. The product is available as both a CD-ROM and SCORM-compatible networked courseware.
